your LETTERS Mission Accomplished I was touched and honored by your support in the August issue [“The Wind Beneath His Wings”]. Thank you for sharing my story with the Chaldean community across the world. As testimony for your great work and reach, I have received an overwhelming number of support and well-wish emails, many from far-reaching places such as California, Arizona, Florida and Washington, DC. On August 26, I was extremely happy and proud to have completed my mission and my crossing is in the process of being registered as an official World Record. The journey was unforgettable and grueling. While this crossing was dedicated to my late father Kamal Bidawid, it was also in honor of all beloved Chaldeans who have lost their life to cancer. With the help of your generous readers, my family and I were able to raise more than ,000 for the cause of finding a cure for cancer, eclipsing our goal by 50 percent. All these donations were made directly to the American Cancer Society. In closing, I would like to thank the staff of The Chaldean News and the entire Chaldean community for the support and encourage everyone to do something with every chance they get to end cancer. Do it for yourself, or your kids, or your parents, or for whatever reason that moves you to action, but do something every chance you get.
