chaldean on the STREET What are you most grateful for this Thanksgiving? By Anthony Samona May your stuffing be tasty, may your turkey be plump, may your potatoes and gravy have nary a lump. May your yams be delicious and your pies take the prize, and may your Thanksgiving dinner stay off your thighs. For this year’s Thanksgiving, I am very thankful for the way my job situation worked out. Being laid off this past summer allowed me to go on the most memorable and life-changing experience: Kairos. That led me to now have a new and better job than before. Just be patient, and things will happen the way you want them to turn out. Andy Bakkal, 20 West Bloomfield This year, I am thankful to God for the gift of good health for myself and my family. I’m thankful to be spending Thanksgiving with my family and remembering those who aren’t able to spend Thanksgiving with their families. I’m also thankful for the doctors who work to treat those who are suffering with health issues. Julian Tinpan, 28 Sterling Heights This past year I began a charity with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and changed a child’s life by making his wish come true. This child is suffering from brain cancer and it makes me so happy knowing I made a positive change in someone else’s life and put a smile on his face. Without my family always supporting me, I would be nowhere. Brittni Shoukri, 22 West Bloomfield I’m most thankful for all of my blessings and accomplishments. I’m so happy I was able to share this year’s accomplishments with my amazing family, because without them it would all mean nothing. Most of all, I am thankful for my angel in Heaven. I love you Baba, happy Thanksgiving! Sylvia Dabish, 26 West Bloomfield This year I’m thankful for many things but especially for my parents and the opportunity they gave me to pursue my dreams in becoming a lawyer. I also can’t thank God enough for bringing my husband Matthew into my life and blessing me with true love, health and happiness. Janelle Sharrak, 26 Birmingham I am especially grateful for both the new and old relationships in my life. I have been blessed to meet people who, though they are from different walks of life, have opened my eyes to a world outside my own and reminded me of how genuine and caring one could be. I am grateful for the amazing influences and strong support system I have. Whether I’m communicating with friends in Prague, Spain or West Bloomfield, I am pushed to my full potential. #GodIsSoGood. Anita Kesto, 22 Commerce I am thankful for many things, but if I had to choose my biggest blessing after my family and faith it would be the joy of living. I’m fortunate enough to attend Marian and to be surrounded by my amazing friends. I’m grateful for good health, a big family, and to be able to learn and grow in a positive environment. Madalyne Sandiha, 14 West Bloomfield Thanksgiving has so much to offer me this year. I have so many thanks on my plate, I don’t know where to begin. Becoming a husband to my beautiful wife this year is definitely something I’m most grateful for. My family and friends as well, because the love of a family is life’s greatest blessing. Brian Dabish, 29 West Bloomfield I’m thankful for my family, friends and my excellent team of employees at AT&T Midwest Mobility Solutions who treat my businesses like it’s their own and always take initiative. I would be lost without them! More importantly, I’m thankful for my beautiful wife who is always there for me and supporting me every step of the way. Matthew Sharrak, 29 Birmingham I am thankful for living in such a great and civilized country. I have been to other countries and yes, they are beautiful, but many of us take living here for granted because we don’t know how precious our freedom and our rights are until you travel to other parts of the world. Andrew Sandiha, 21 West Bloomfield 24 CHALDEAN NEWS NOVEMBER 2013
