chaldean on the STREET What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? By Caroline M. Bacall With the holidays approaching, be mindful of your blessings! St. Thomas Chaldean Catholic Parish held Kids’ Night Out to raise donations for the new grotto and to enjoy face painting, songs, skits, and quality time with friends and family. The October 24 event had an angelic theme, which explains some of the participants’ clothing. I’m thankful for a lot: my parents, food, all of my aunts, uncles, cousins, for people who help me, and for the church because it helped me learn about God. Cameron Miri, 8 West Bloomfield I’m thankful for my life and the gymnastics classes my parents took me to in the summer. Melissa Dickow, 8 West Bloomfield I’m thankful for my family, my house, and the food on the table every day. Melinda Dickow, 11 West Bloomfield I’m thankful for having a good life and for my parents raising me to be a good child. I’m also thankful for the food on the table. Andrew Etta, 12 West Bloomfield I’m thankful for my family getting together during Thanksgiving, and I’m thankful that I’m not poor. Branden Etta, 13 Farmington Hills I’m thankful for my family, cousins, friends, God, a nice living space, and for every day I get a good education. I feel so sorry for those people who don’t have anything and I’m so lucky that my dad can support me and my family. Sydney Yaldo, 14 Farmington Hills I’m thankful for my parents, for living, and for my Xbox 360. Dylan Toma, 11 West Bloomfield I’m thankful for my family, especially my dad who works hard every day to put clothes on my back and for the food on the table. I’m thankful for my cousins and friends who are always there for me and for God helping me every day. Katelyn Sheena, 11 West Bloomfield I’m thankful for having a life, for the food my mom cooks, and for the parrot my dad bought for me, my brothers and sister last week. Joseph Ayar, 9 West Bloomfield I’m thankful for my family, shelter, for an education, my computer, and for church because prayer is important to me. Bianca Savaya, 12 West Bloomfield I’m thankful for the blessings God gave me; for giving me strength to live, for giving me food, and for forgiving me for the mistakes I made. Dominic Thweni, 7 West Bloomfield I’m thankful for my family, Jesus, my grandparents, for the dollhouse my parents bought me on my birthday, and for books because I love to read. Nicole Salmo, 9 West Bloomfield 28 CHALDEAN NEWS NOVEMBER 2009
