May Is for Mary May is dedicated to the Blessed Mother and one way to honor her is by doing a daily rosary. The rosary has been prayed since the 13th century. While meditating on the life of Jesus, one recites the prayers that brings one closer to Him and to His mother, Mary. Start by making the sign of the Cross and pray the Apostles Creed. Then say one “Our Father,” three “Hail Marys” for the virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity; and then one “Glory Be”: GLORY BE to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. The rosary is divided into three parts, each having five mysteries. While meditating on the mysteries, recite: one “Our Father,” 10 “Hail Marys” and one “Glory Be” for each mystery. After each mystery the “Fatima Prayer” is said: O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fire of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy. All together this makes up one decade. After the completion of the five mysteries (five decades), the “Hail Holy Queen” is said: Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. The Mysteries of the Rosary The Joyful Mysteries (Mondays and Saturdays, may be said on Sundays during Advent and Christmas): 1. The Annunciation 2. The Visitation 3. The Nativity 4. The Presentation 5. The Finding of Jesus in the Temple The Sorrowful Mysteries (Tuesdays and Fridays, may be said on Sundays during Lent): 1. The Agony in the Garden 2. The Scourging at the Pillar 3. The Crowning with Thorns 4. The Carrying of the Cross 5. The Crucifixion The Glorious Mysteries (Wednesdays and Sundays) 1. The Resurrection 2. The Ascension 3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit 4. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary 5. The Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary The Luminous Mysteries (Thursdays) 1. The Baptism in the Jordan 2. The Wedding at Cana 3. Proclamation of the Kingdom 4. The Transfiguration 5. Institution of the Eucharist For the intentions of the Holy Father, one may recite at this point one “Our Father,” one “Hail Mary” and one “Glory Be.” Participate in the rosary with Mother Angelica from EWTN and learn more about devotions to Mary by visiting ewtn.com. 18 CHALDEAN NEWS MAY 2014

obituaries Adil Aziz Dabish Adil Aziz Dabish was born on September 26, 1953, and passed away on February 23, 2014. He was the son of the late Aziz and Suad Dabish. Adil was born in Baghdad, Iraq, and came to the United States when he was 15 years old. He grew up in Livonia with his four siblings, Salwa (Frank) Nofar, Amer (Sefaa Choulagh) Dabish, Thamer (Teresa Rea) Dabish, and Sonya (Andrew) Marrogy. Adil graduated from Livonia Bentley High School in 1971. In 1975 Adil married his soul mate, Zahiya, the daughter of Michael and Shireen Kashat. They had four children, Shawn Dabish, Derek (Juanita Semann) Dabish, Chantal (Mark) Kassab, and Christina Dabish. Adil became a very successful businessman. With the help of his wife, hard work and dedication he accomplished so much. In 1988 he opened his first business, called L.A. Video in Berkley. He was so successful in the video business that a year later he decided to open Video Premier in Redford. In 1998 he got his license in real estate and in 2000 he opened Premier Sudz & Smokerz. In 2011 he opened My Pet Supplies. But to him, his greatest accomplishment was his family. Adil enjoyed many things, like going to Shenandoah on Tuesdays, working outdoors, attending church Adil Aziz Dabish and being with friends. But his favorite thing to do was spending time at his summer home on the lake with his kids and grandkids. He would take the kids on boat rides, swim in the lake with them, and make them s’mores over the bonfire. Adil’s death was a shock to all of us, and he will be deeply missed. He was a great man with a big heart. He was the type of person who reached out to others. If he hadn’t heard from someone in a while, whether it was his cousin or an old employee, he would make the time and keep in touch. He never looked down at anyone, and treated everyone the same. He always had a smile on his face, and no matter how many jokes you heard him tell, he always had a new one to say. Adil had many plans this year. One included taking a trip to see the Holy Land in September for the first time. He never made it to his trip, but at least now we know he’s resting in Paradise. Adil is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Donovan Dabish, Dillon Dabish, Addison Dabish, Giselle Kassab, Gabrielle Kassab, Elianna Kassab and Kristianna Kassab. He was a loving husband, a great father, and an amazing grandfather. We truly lost a wonderful man. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15. BE YOU, ONLY BETTER!
