noteworthy Murder in California Auto shop owner Jalal Abou, 63, was found shot to death at his California business on April 19. The husband and father of three moved to the U.S. from Iraq nearly 40 years ago. He owned Joe’s Auto Repair for six years in the Point Loma area of San Diego. Abou, who was active in the area’s Chaldean community, was described as a wellliked and honest businessman. Friends and customers left flowers, candles and sympathy cards in front of Joe’s. “People don’t do that for a mechanic,” noted a neighbor to Channel 10 News. “These are clients and customers who have been loyal to him for a long time, not just because he was a good mechanic, but because he was a special guy.” CALC Collecting Goods Bedding and household goods are being collected for refugees through May 21.
