CHAI time CHALDEANS CONNECTING COMMUNITY EVENTS IN AND AROUND METRO DETROIT MARCH 2018 Saturday, March 3 Conference: CARE of Southeastern Michigan’s 23rd Annual Parenting Conference will be hosted at the Macomb Intermediate School District on Saturday, March 3 at 8:00 a.m. The Macomb Intermediate School District is located at 44001 Garfield in Clinton Township. This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Dominica McBride of Become Inc., who will be addressing building empathy in one’s child. The event is open to all parents. Parents will have the option to choose from 21 workshops. Each workshop will address a topic like ADHD, bullying, etc. Tickets for this event are and must be bought in advance. Taking place at 6:00 p.m., the event will be raising money for the JVS Women to Work program as well as other programs or services that support women seeking jobs. Honorary Chair Camille Walker Banks will be giving the keynote speech. Other speakers will also be present at the event, including recent graduates of the JVS Women to Work program. Wednesday, March 7 Forum: Join the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce for their Chaldean Women Business Leaders panel discussion. This forum will be hosted at Henry Ford, at their West Bloomfield location, Wednesday March 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Moderated by Vanessa Denha Garmo, the panel will feature five women from the Chaldean community. From educators to doctors, these women will share their timeline of success. While this event is free, space is limited to 100 people. The night will feature a four-course dinner, raffles and auctions, and entertainment. CODE Legal Aid has been named as this year’s Live From Babylon beneficiary for the work they have done with the ACLU for community members at risk of deportation.
