On May 19, members of the community took to Mother of God for the profession of Sister Mary Amanda’s final vows. Bishop Francis emphasized that while many celebrated a royal wedding, Chaldeans were celebrating a royal wedding for Sister Christine, now Sister Mary Amanda as she married Jesus.
New Marian feast day decreed PHOTOS BY RAZIK RANON Pope Francis has decreed a new Marian feast day; Mary, Mother of the Church. The new feast was celebrated for the first time in Detroit at Old St. Mary’s in Greektown on Monday, May 21. Hundreds of Metro Detroiters joined in the celebration.
