your LETTERS Singing the Praises I just felt the need to highlight some of the things I’ve learned from Fr. Sameem Balius. There is so much that I am grateful for and I am sure that many people share my sentiments. As Anthony Demallo stated, “Love springs from awareness.” I am talking about the kind of awareness and knowledge that we’ve gained as a result of Fr. Sameem’s teachings of the person of Jesus and how to live our lives according to His will. It is this awareness which Demallo talks about and which Fr. Sameem teaches to, that enables us to love Jesus in a real, deep and meaningful way, which then leads us to change our ways, carry our cross and follow Him. Fr. Sameem is well read. His words stem from the depth of his soul and resonate with so many believers. His Bible Study lectures are attended by many. His messages are depicted from the Bible and presented in a way that everyone can understand. He has a great command of the Arabic language and possesses the art of communication, and he uses that to eloquently transcend God’s messages. When I think about what he has been able to accomplish in such a short time, I cannot help but think of him as a gift from the heavens above. With his gifts, he tries so hard to reach out to Christians everywhere through different media. In addition to his Bible Study, he appears on MEA station and talks about spiritual, social and philosophical issues. His latest is his radio program which he started recently on 690 AM where he has dedicated the entire time to honor Mary, Mother of God. He recently published his second book, Man and His Inner Creativity. This book was so well received and was obtained by a great number of people who were so inspired as to reach deep into their souls and find the source of creativity within them. Fr. Sameem cares not about prestige, class, status or wealth. He has genuine love for his parishioners and is always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. As Ikhlas Sulaka stated in the June issue [“New Life at Sacred Heart,” June 2012], he is a people’s person, and we love him for it. Being a middle-aged woman, I’ve met many people from all walks of life, but I must say that I’ve met very few people who possess his charisma and his burning desire to bring to life the word of God. May the Lord bless him and keep him. May He lead him and protect him every step of the way. – Fatin Maizy BEFORE BEFORE AFTER AFTER 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE Who is Dr. Vasileff? • A favorite among the Chaldean Community • Rhinoplasty Specialist (nose surgery) • Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon • Exceptional educational and training background: • University of Michigan – Northwestern University • The Cleveland Clinic – University of Pennsylvania Call to schedule an appointment with Dr. Vasileff today!
