PLANNING continued from page 42 is more reflective of themselves as a couple then a wedding that was hosted by the couple’s parents. “Parents are letting their kids organize the weddings more,” said June. “They are allowing the couple design the day.” However, brides more so today are trying to get inspiration from their mom’s wedding day from decades earlier. “They might not wear the same dress but somehow they are incorporating themes from their parents wedding into their own,” he noted. “They might incorporate the color scheme from that time period like mustard yellow or navy. The tradition of wearing the mother’s dress doesn’t really exist in our culture but getting inspiration from their weddings does.” In addition to be being acknowledged by Hour Magazine as the Best Event Planner for four consecutive years, A June Event is also a preferred vendor at the top destination spots in the Metro Detroit area. The Event Planner Dalia Atisha, known as The Event Planner, has a close working relationship with many vendors in the event planning business. “A lot of the wedding tends we have had since 2017 are evolving and creating more of an imprint with the help of vendors providing more options making it easier to create a theme and really get into it,” said Atisha. “We are looking at what vendors are offering as we create personalized weddings for each couple.” In 2018, the laser cut custom and personalized invitations continue with different types of printing, letter press, foil press and embossed lettering. When it comes to colors, Atisha is seeing green and whites in 2018 as a more natural feel emerges. “Bold colors are giving more vibrant presentations,” she noted. “Rustic styled weddings are now being altered to feel more woodsy. metallic/industrial Lucite, rose gold, different tones of gold and silver, and the garden-esque look is also popular.” When it comes to lighting, couples have made it a standard using pin spotting at guest tables. “Gobos to personalize the couple with their logo by branding their wedding and using texture lighting to really set a mood for the evening have become popular,” said Atisha. “In addition, bands and DJ’s tying in lighting with music that creates an unprecedented event.” It’s not just tables and chairs anymore. “Couples are bringing in family antiques, heirlooms and other personal items that are near and dear to them,” said Atisha. “They are tying it into their wedding décor whether it be the wedding bouquet, at the entrance or even on the head table.” Couples are renting furniture giving the reception a different look such as PLANNING continued on page 46 44 CHALDEAN NEWS FEBRUARY 2018
