He is the late husband of Lamia Seman Arcori. Born an Italian-American, Frank was immersed in the Chaldean community as a grocer and businessman. He served as the chair of the AFPD and was heavily involved in the Chaldean business community. The foundation in his name has the mission to help those in need. Frank G. Shouneyia passed away in 2009 at age 54. For a few years, her loved ones participated in a national breast cancer walk in her name. But that just didn’t feel personal enough as a tribute to someone who was known for her loving, giving nature. So last year, five women — Karla Atchoo, Sheila Esshaki, Dolly Hesano, Janet Lekas and Zena Naimi — formed a charity to help needy Chaldean women. Giving Hearts for Vivian has the goal of putting badly needed cash right into the hands of women — preferably Chaldean — whose breast cancer have put in financial straits. The group has raised some ,000 so far. Women facing breast cancer are welcome to contact the group to request assistance. While the senior at Detroit Catholic Central High School is recuperating at Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, friends and family are raising funds to help retrofit the family house in Novi to accommodate a wheelchair, and to pay for medical bills and other expenses. A large fundraiser was held on November 20 at Compuware Ice Arena in Plymouth and fundraising efforts continue. One World Medical Mission In 2003, Pharmacist Nidhal Garmo began sending medical supplies and donations to a few families in Iraq. From that grew a passion and the founding of One World, which helps those in need of medical attention due to war and poverty. The dynamic Garmo frequently flies to the Middle East to deliver medical supplies and works closely with the organization World Medical Relief, for whom she is the ambassador of health for Iraq, Kurdistan and Jordan. In November, she joined 60 doctors from the United States to help Syrian refugees, then continued her humanitarian work in Kurdistan. The organization accepts cash donations and medical supplies, clothes and toys. Visit their website for a list. One World Medical Mission P.O. The foundation offers families who have tragically lost a parent direct financial support and other services such as professional grief counseling, legal and accounting services, job placement, scholarships and mentoring. Board members pay for all management and general expenses so 100 percent of donations go to families. Yatooma’s Foundation for the Kids 1900 S.
