chaldean on the STREET What are you thankful for this holiday season? By Anthony Samona With Christmas just weeks away, Chaldean youth reflect on the many joys of their lives. I am so grateful to have a great family, my cousins, friends and my brothers, and I am so thankful to have amazing parents! I couldn’t have asked for better parents in my life. I am also grateful to learn and receive the body of Christ this year in my first Communion. – Jada Nafso, 9 Northville I always thank God for keeping myself and my family healthy. I am thankful for my mom and dad who always do everything for my brothers and I. I am thankful for my older brothers who always look out for me. I am thankful for football. I am also thankful to live in this free country. I thank God for the food on our table, and especially for my teachers for making me a smarter person. – Avin Salem, 12 West Bloomfield I thank God for blessing me for my mom and everything she has done for me, always cooking for us and reminding us to think about those who don’t have food and are poor. I’m also grateful for my dad for teaching me how to play soccer and always being there for me. I am lucky to have nice brothers and a sister to play with. – Jacob Nafso, 9 Farmington Hills I am grateful to be Chaldean and to follow our strong Chaldean Catholic faith. I am blessed to go to school and to receive an education. I also love all of my friends and cousins. Christmas is the time of giving; giving love, gifts and especially giving thanks to Jesus for everything He’s blessed us with. – Deana Dabish, 12 West Bloomfield I am thankful for being on the safety patrol at my school and being a leader for many other students. I am also grateful to make the fifth-grade choir and being a positive role model for others. I thank God for everything He’s given me, and this time of year is the best time to show how thankful we are. – Nick Nafso, 10 Farmington Hills I thank God every day for all the good he’s done for my mom and dad and for my brothers and I. I am also grateful for the food on our table, for being able to play the games we have to play with, for black belt tae-kwondo, playing soccer and making new friends at my new school. – Kaden Ismail, 9 West Bloomfield I try to remember everything God has blessed my family with. I am most thankful for his blessings every day and the gifts he gives us, like the food on our table and a roof over our heads. – Ashley Shaow, 11 West Bloomfield I am very grateful to sing in the choir at my school, and for my friends and cousins to always be around to play with, and for my wonderful family as well. I count my blessings every day to lead a happy and healthy life during this beautiful time of year. – Danielle Dabish, 11 West Bloomfield I want to give thanks to God for blessing me for my Muma because I love her — as well as my Grandma’s dog, Brody, because I get to play with him every time I visit. Lastly, my baby cousin Zachary because he’s so funny and cute every time I see him, and I love to make him laugh. – Jacob Dabish, 9 West Bloomfield Christmas time is the best time of year to thank God for everything good he has given our families.
