Jeffrey and Amanda Jeffrey Jonna, son of Sundus Jonna & the late Zuhair Jonna, and Amanda Jamil, daughter of Janet Jamil & the late Sabah Jamil, exchanged vows on March 11, 2007 at Mother of God Church. A reception followed at Shenandoah Country Club. David Jonna, Jeffrey’s brother, stood as best man, while Rhonda Jamil, Amanda’s sister, was maid of honor. The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in Hawaii and Las Vegas. Alvin and Kristin Sobhi & Nawal Semma are proud to announce the marriage of their son Alvin to Kristin, daughter of Riyadh & Najiba Jiddou. The happy couple was married at St. Thomas Church on April 22, 2007 and celebrated afterwards at Shenandoah Country Club. best man was Randy Yatooma, friend of Alvin; Kristin’s sister, Renee Jiddou, was the maid of The honor. The couple enjoyed a tropical honeymoon relaxing in Maui. Avita and Timothy Timothy Nafso and Avita Kashat began their lives together on April 20, 2007. They were married at St. Thomas Chaldean Catholic Church with a reception following at Shenandoah Country Club. The groom’s brother, Tommy Nafso, was the best man and the bride’s first cousin, Candace Atisha, was maid of honor. Timothy is the son of Thamir & Faiza Nafso, and Avita’s parents are Thamir & Ikhlas Kashat. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii and Las Vegas. Amanda and Jeffrey Alvin and Kristin Avita and Timothy Drs. Purcell, Sayegh & Zimny *Board Certified Family Medicine Specialists A Remarkable Milestone Ablahad & Shammama Shallal celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on June 22 at Shenandoah Country Club. The gala party was attended by their children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Some people traveled as far as Texas and Toronto for the event. Fr. Frank Kalabat gave his blessings at the dinner, and letters of congratulations were received from President Bush, Governor Jennifer Granholm and the Mayor and Council of the City of Royal Oak. The couple was featured in the Ablahad & Shammama Shallal Detroit News a few years ago as the oldest Iraqi-Americans to vote in Iraq’s elections. Sadly, Ablahad died a few weeks later on July 6.
